Why do cheese curds squeak?
Fresh curds have tight protein strands that rub against your teeth. The squeak fades as the cheese ages, so a squeaky curd is a fresh curd. Ours are packed fresh and ship cold to keep it that way.
How long do they stay fresh?
Keep them refrigerated and eat them within a couple of weeks. The squeak is best in the first few days, so open a bag the day it arrives.
Can I freeze them?
You can, and they fry up fine for poutine or beer battered curds. For snacking we recommend fresh.
