Located in the middle of the dairy industry in northwestern Wisconsin, North Country Cheese is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality cheese, made by only the finest cheese makers. All of our cheese is made right here in Wisconsin, and most of it comes from small creameries that have been making cheese the same way for generations.

How we started
It grew out of the dairy distribution business.
For decades we’ve supplied cheese to grocery stores across the Midwest, and along the way we saw the need for a consistent, high-quality line of Wisconsin-made cheese for the stores we serve. Dennis Wenger and his longtime partner Kendall Goossen co-founded the North Country Cheese line to fill it.
The brand grew from there: curds, string cheese, one-pound blocks and deli horns, all made by Wisconsin cheese makers. North Country Gourmet Cheese Spreads were made in small, hand-crafted batches in a small cheese factory Kendall set up on his home place, and that line has grown to more than 20 flavors. North Country Butter came along last, rounding out the dairy case.
Today North Country works with the finest cheese makers in Wisconsin to keep the line consistent and the quality where it has always been.
